“I’m not sure I understand how it works - tell me again?”
Ok - let me try it another way…
One day - it’s free to attend (but you need to register… this is coming soon!)
Aiside from turning up, registering, socialising and being told how it all works - here’s what you’ll be doing:
- There are six slots (time sessions) through the day
- There areĀ six ‘zones’ (areas within the building).
- Each zone has a theme attached - photoshop techniques workshop, lighting 1 and 2, discussions 1 and 2 and speed projects
- (There will also be a chill out / chat area)
Beforehand the event there will be assistance for those wanting to run a session on how to structure it - see the Google Group discussion for more - but here are a few guidelines and ideas…
- Think of topics other people can get involved in - photoshop ideas, camera or lighting techniques others can try out, the subjects delegates will want to ask questions about or will have an opinion on or simply a subject that will intrigue!
- Keep it simple - you don’t need to cover lots of ground; just give a good grounding in the subject you’re covering - you’ve only 50 minutes to fill! However you’re planning to deliver the session remember to build in plenty of opportunity for others to contribute - time to ask questions, for example.
On the day there will be a board upon which you can book a slot and zone for your session - then you just go to the room at the end of the previous session; set up and welcome people to your session.
I have an idea but need some help or advice…
Get yourself over to the Google Group - you’ll find Mark there ready to help you out.
I can’t think of anything I’m specialist in..!
No problem - you don’t need to be a specialist - start the session and see what others contribute. Just name it so other know you want their input. Or; if you’d rather; think of a subject to start a discussion about - then do just that.
Or, if you really are stuck - why not volunteer to lead one of the speed project sessions.
Speed projects - sounds tricky…
No, not really - you’ll be given a topic, or a scene to create - then between you and the other group members you need to bring the project to life, take the pic and post it onto the website. How you do this is up to you and the other group members.
Lighting… what kit will there be?
We’re working on that - hopefully we will have a mixture or strobist and studio lighting. But if you have your own, bring it along (and let us know you’re doing so!)
Any more questions? Post them below, or go over to the Google Group and ask!
